Understanding Childhood Asthma
Asthma is one of the most common chronic conditions in children. It causes recurring episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing, particularly at night or early morning.
Common Triggers
- Respiratory infections (cold, flu)
- Allergens (dust mites, pollen, pet dander)
- Air pollution and smoke
- Physical activity
- Cold air
Managing Asthma in School
Inform teachers and school staff about your child's asthma. Ensure the child carries a reliever inhaler. Work with the school nurse to create an asthma action plan.
